Richard earned his BA in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach and his MA in Counseling Psychology from National University, San Diego. He has additional training in hypnotherapy from the International Certification Board for Clinical Hypnotherapy and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association.He has been counseling individuals, couples, and families, for over 20 years in private and non-profit community organizations, hospitals, clinics, and schools. Having worked in a variety of diverse settings, he has gained valuable training and experience from many perspectives and incorporates this knowledge into guiding resolution for each unique client’s challenges.
Specializing in Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Richard is often able to help resolve client issues in relatively few sessions by setting clear, well defined outcomes and implementing strategic treatment plans. He also relies on Family Systems methodologies for working with relationship issues as well as Mindfulness and Mind-Body approaches for promoting general wellbeing and growth.
